The Bunk House

Once a simple shed built in the 1960s, this cozy hideaway has been lovingly restored from the ground up and transformed into a thoughtfully designed retreat. Completely reimagined as a vacation rental beginning in 2021, the space now blends modern comfort with rustic charm, perfect for a family, a romantic couple, or close friends looking for a fun escape.

Originally designed as the owner’s writing haven, the Bunk House is also a beloved gathering spot for his eight grandchildren when guests aren’t around. Every corner reflects that same spirit of creativity, family, and simple joy, making it a space of inspiration, rest, and connection.

Inside, you’ll find a full kitchen, large master bedroom, flexible living space, and the inviting bunk room — a favorite among kids and book lovers alike. With two built-in bunks, a roll-out trundle, and shelves lined with good reads, it doubles as a quiet little library where stories come to life and lazy afternoons are well spent.

Step outside and you’ll find a spacious new deck that expands the living space and invites you to relax under the trees, whether you’re sharing a meal, enjoying a drink, or cheering on the Tigers. Just a short drive from Clemson, it’s a wonderful gameday retreat or peaceful escape any time of year.

THE SPACE

Our flexible indoor living space is equipped with everything you need for the perfect getaway. Grab a book from the bookshelf or gather around for a puzzle or a boardgame. For digital entertainment, you’ll find two large TVs with DISH Network: one in the living room and another in the master bedroom.

The fully equipped kitchen makes cooking feel easy and enjoyable. It features a gas range, oven, full-size refrigerator, spacious sink, and a complete set of dishes, cookware, and utensils — everything you might need for a simple breakfast or a full family dinner. There’s also a dedicated coffee bar, perfect for early mornings on the deck or slow starts after a Clemson gameday. And when it’s time to gather for a meal, the expandable “murphy table” neatly folds out from beneath the cupboard, seating up to five guests, or creating a cozy, intimate setting for two.

Just outside, you’ll find a convenient utility closet that includes a stackable washer and dryer, along with essentials for grilling and other outdoor activities, making it easy to settle in and feel right at home during your stay. Fire up the Blackstone and enjoy the comfortable outdoor furniture on our expansive deck for a memorable cookout beneath the trees.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The master bedroom is set apart from the bunk and reading room area, offering a quiet, private retreat. Custom shelving was thoughtfully designed for Airbnb guests, making it easy to keep belongings organized and ensure nothing gets left behind.

Each sleeping area is equipped with convenient phone chargers so everyone can stay powered up. Two mini-split units keep both sleeping areas perfectly comfortable year-round.

Cautions & Reminders

  • The Bunkhouse sits at the edge of the woods. Keep doors closed to prevent insects and critters from sneaking in.

  • Do not leave trash or food outside; it can attract local wildlife. Place any outdoor garbage in a plastic bag and into the large bin before leaving the space.

  • Keep an eye on your children outdoors. You may consider shutting the rolling gate.

  • Blackstone griddle is available for use. Please ensure it is pulled far enough away from the house in order to avoid damaging the vinyl siding.

Before You Leave

  • Sign the guest book inside to share a story or favorite memory from your stay!

  • If you have suggestions or notice something that could be improved, feel free to text the host. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking to make the experience even better.
